About / Mammoth Club Last revised / May 2026 Toronto, Canada

We make AI education
that actually works.

Mammoth Club is an applied AI and tech education studio. We design the courses, certifications, dashboards, and tooling that 9M+ learners and 1,400+ organizations use to upskill their teams across 150+ countries, on every populated continent.

Our work, in one line

We turn fast-moving technology into structured, certifiable skill for individuals, teams, and the public libraries that serve them. Education that's massive, memorable, and built to last.

Section 01What we do

Four practices, one platform.

We're not a course marketplace and we're not a video library. We design, build, and operate the four things below as one connected system because real upskilling needs all of them, in the same place, at the same time.

01

Course design and authoring

Our editors and instructional designers build text-first, AI-searchable lessons across 3,000+ courses. Each one is structured so learners can find the answer, verify it, and apply it the same day.

  • 3,000+ courses
  • 13 programming languages
  • Updated every month
02

Certification paths

Structured pathways with built-in assessments, project portfolios, and proctored final exams. Recognized industry certifications across AI, cloud, security, and software engineering.

  • 100+ certification paths
  • 1M+ practice questions
  • AWS / Azure / GCP / CompTIA
03

Tooling and practice labs

Browser-based code workspaces, interactive simulations, AI study buddies, and a job-readiness checker. The full toolkit you need to actually practice, not just watch.

  • 240+ live practice labs
  • Workspaces in 13 languages
  • Interview Simulator
04

Manager and institution dashboards

A reporting layer that turns learning into something a CFO can read. Time-on-task, completions, certs earned, exportable for audits, and SSO/SCIM ready for orgs of every size.

  • SSO + SCIM
  • Audit-ready exports
  • 1,400+ libraries on platform
Section 02How we work

From practitioner draft to certified path.

Every Mammoth Club path follows the same four-step process. We've run this loop on more than three thousand courses since 2011. It's what keeps the catalog current as the underlying tools shift every quarter.

Step 01

Draft from practitioners

Working engineers and instructors outline the path. No theory-only authors. Every lesson starts with someone who ships.

Step 02

Pair with AI authoring

CoursePro AI generates structured lessons, slides, quizzes, and code samples drafted from the practitioner outline.

Step 03

Editorial and technical review

A second practitioner runs the labs, reviews the assessments, and confirms every certification path maps to recognized standards.

Step 04

Ship, measure, revise

We watch quiz scores, time-on-task, and certificate completion. Underperforming lessons get revised. The catalog is never finished.

Section 03What's in the catalog

Six tracks, one membership.

The catalog is organized around the work people are actually paid to do. Each track has its own editorial team, its own certification ladder, and its own practice-lab environment.

Section 04Our story

15 years of building education from the inside.

Mammoth Club didn't start as a platform. It started as one engineer teaching nights and weekends. We built the platform we wished we'd had, then opened it to everyone.

1997Origin
John Bura starts teaching

Founder John Bura begins teaching programming nights and weekends, first in person in Calgary, eventually online. The pedagogy that becomes Mammoth Club is sketched here.

2011Founded
Mammoth Club is founded

The company is founded around a single thesis: tech moves too fast for slow education. The first courses ship: game development, web fundamentals, intro to programming.

2015Scale
1M courses sold

The catalog crosses the 1M-course mark. The team begins building the proprietary LMS that still powers the platform today.

2019Institutions
Library licensing program

Mammoth Club opens the Global Library Licensing Program, a Canadian alternative to LinkedIn Learning at a fraction of the cost. 200 libraries sign up in year one.

2023AI turn
CoursePro AI ships

We rewire the authoring stack around generative AI. Course production time drops 8x, while editorial standards stay where they were. The AI Tools track launches alongside it.

2026Today
9M courses / 150 countries / 1,400 libraries

The platform serves individuals, teams, and institutions on every populated continent. The team is 84 people across editorial, engineering, and learner success.

Section 05How we make decisions

Five principles, posted on the wall.

Whenever a product call gets hard, we go back to these. They've been on our internal wiki since 2014, and they survive every rewrite.

PRINCIPLE 01

Practitioners over pundits.

Every course starts with someone who ships. If the author isn't doing the work for a living, we don't publish.

PRINCIPLE 02

Text first, video second.

Lessons are written so they're searchable, scannable, and citable. Video is in service of the text, not the other way around.

PRINCIPLE 03

The certificate has to mean something.

If a hiring manager can't tell what the certificate proves, it doesn't ship. Every credential maps to recognized industry standards.

PRINCIPLE 04

Practice beats passive watching.

Every path includes labs, code workspaces, or simulations. Watching alone never moved anyone past the beginner mark.

PRINCIPLE 05

Built for libraries, not just enterprises.

If our platform doesn't reach a public library patron in rural Saskatchewan, we've failed at something important. Affordability is part of the product.

Section 08The people

A small team of practitioner-educators.

We're 84 people: editors, engineers, instructional designers, and learner-success folks. Most of us still ship code or teach a cohort on the side. That's how we keep the catalog honest.

John Bura

Founder and CEO

Educator since 1997. Game developer, instructor, and the one who still answers learner email at 11pm.

PORTRAIT

Priya Shah

Head of Editorial

Runs the practitioner network and review process. Former engineering manager at Shopify. 12 years in technical editorial.

Tech moves too fast for slow education. Real learning should be massive, memorable, and built to last. That's the bar Mammoth Club holds itself to, every cohort, every course.
